freedom means freedom to fire.

Allof these people are your clients, or you are their client.
You need to be able to switch. That's one reason money is useful. You can select another option instead and pay for that. Not obliged to choose something.
It's choice.
It is transferable and replaceable.
Fire your boss: your boss. in fact you are the client and you can choose another server (another plumber) .
You are a boss and you can hire another client, and fire them.
The former is often considered as freedom. But the latter is the more interesting point here.
Evolution and survival. This has to do with an abstraction about these.

This is in contrast with the view of cardinality of the set of degrees of freedom. But in fa t there is a mirror meta symmetry. Each view is asymmetric, but a mirror image also exists.
